How often do you wake up filled with positive energy and excited to take on the day?
Or do you hit the snooze button, grumble a few times as you drag your tired body out of bed, splash some water on your face and wonder how you’re going to get through the day?
Maybe it’s somewhere in between, but if you’re like most people (myself included), it probably skews a little bit more towards the latter, doesn’t it?
But what if we could shift it more towards feeling energized and excited for the day ahead? How might that change in perspective change how you feel and how you react to situations throughout the day?
If you’d like to start your day with a little bit more excitement and positive energy, I’ll challenge you to do something very simple this week.
Every morning when you wake up I want you to think about something you could get excited about for that day.
That’s it.
It doesn’t have to be something big, just one thing you could be excited for if you really wanted to be.
Hold onto that thought in your head for a few moments and really let yourself feel the excitement of anticipation for whatever that “thing” is.
I have a reminder set in my phone to go off at 5am every day that says, “What can I be excited about today?” so that’s the first thing I see when I turn my phone on in the morning.
If you want extra credit, you can also write this “thing” down in a journal with a few sentences about what it is and why you’re excited for it. Over time you’ll have pages and pages filled with exciting “things” that you can look back at and remember the feeling of.
How good would it feel to literally have an entire book filled with moments or events or people you let yourself feel excited for?
How might that impact your outlook on life and interactions throughout the day?
Take a few minutes and think about that.
Now, what can you get excited for today?
