My name is Cameron Makarchuk and since 2007 I’ve devoted my life to helping thousands of people eat, move and feel better with properly designed, time efficient workout programs, lifestyle-based nutrition strategies combined with simple ways to sleep better and reduce their stress.
A little bit about me…
I’ve been a certified personal trainer since 2007 after graduating from Valley City State University with a 4-year Bachelor of Exercise & Sport Science degree.
But with that said, I’m also just a regular , normal person like you.
I have the same cravings for “bad” food just like you. I can’t keep things like chips or pastries in my house because I’ll crush an entire bag of chips or a whole dozen donuts without even blinking.
I have the same lack of motivation to go to the gym sometimes just like I’m sure you do too. I love working out, getting stronger and improving but there are definitely days where I really have to force myself out of bed in the morning.
Sometimes I don’t want to workout and think I’ll puke if I see another salad.
I’ve written about my struggle with anxiety and have had to take certain measures to cope with that on an almost daily basis.
But I’m also someone who has spent the last 14 years studying fitness, exercise physiology, nutrition, behaviour change and mindset strategies. Including a university degree in Exercise Science and multiple certifications, including one of the first Certified Online Trainers (OTC).

I’ve also spent the last 12 years actually working hands on with over a thousand clients directly to help them make long term changes to their health.
During this time I owned a private personal training studio that specialized in massive weight loss. My clients would routinely lose anywhere from 50-150 lbs, get so much stronger and develop the lifestyle habits to actually keep that weight off and live an actual healthy life.
These days I still work with clients regularly, but I do it through the wonderful power of the Internet which allows me to work with awesome people from all over the world for a fraction of the price of what I used to charge for in-person coaching.
So now, I basically help regular people just like you, eat, move and think better so that they can feel 10 years younger, fit into their old clothes again, perform their best everyday and live an awesome life.
I basically provide the fountain of youth for my clients.
My philosophy has always been that fitness shouldn’t take over your entire life, it should enhance your life. It should be something you incorporate into your everyday life so that you can continue to do things you love and staying as active as possible for as long as possible.
This is why everything I do at Blue Phoenix Fitness is lifestyle-based. Workouts that are short, efficient and effective. Nutrition strategies that can be followed on your worst days, not just your best days. Methods to strengthen your mind and the way you think so that you can perform your best everyday.
Weight loss is great and I’m always super pumped when I can celebrate the success of my clients losing 50-150 lbs, but it makes me even happier when I get the emails about how they were able do something they never thought they’d be able to do.
Things like biking up and down the hills of southern France with her husband. Being able to walk without a cane or walker anymore. Completing their first obstacle course race like a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder. Things like that get me so pumped!
